CoDOA provides a community-led funding framework to collectively support scholar-led journals that do not charge fees to authors and readers (Diamond Open Access).

Introducing a National Consortial Funding Model for Diamond Open Access Journals in Switzerland

Through a consortial funding scheme coordinated and administered by the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries, CoDOA enables Swiss academic libraries and research funders to make funding decisions in line with their missions and to invest together in a more sustainable Diamond Open Access ecosystem.

Developed collaboratively as part of the CoDOA project, the consortial funding scheme will provide funding for established Diamond Open Access journals embedded in Swiss research communities.

CoDOA Principles

Community-led

The funding scheme was developed by academic libraries, for academic libraries.

Flexible

Institutions may choose which journals they wish to support and determine the level of funding they wish to provide.

Sustainable

Successful journals receive funding for a three-year period, enabling greater financial stability and longer-term planning.

Dynamic

Continuous monitoring and evaluation ensure that each funding round informs the ongoing development of the funding scheme.
